Like any community site, there will be a lot of wrong information thrown out there.
The best way to sift out the bad information is to use your own common sense. If a bit of info doesn’t sound right, it is most likely wrong. Or it may be wrong for you because of your weight, class, or sailing style.
However, sailing has many counterintuitive elements in it. So go ask a friendly sailor or knowledgeable guru if it’s right.
The best way to test new knowledge is to actually test it out before the new technique is implemented on the race course.
Keep an open mind, but keep asking “is this right?’. If you or advice giver cannot produce an answer to that question, it may be wrong.
